Sabrina

“Savannah, that shit ain’t funny,” I snap at her. “It’s not just about you anymore. You have a child to think about.”

“Fuck that Sabrina. He killed my parents.”

“I know Savannah. He’s dangerous. Don’t think for a second that he won’t come after you.”

“Good,” she says to me. “I want his ass too. I’m a be ready for him.”

“You sound real dumb Savannah.”

“Fuck you,” she says, shaking her head.

“Oh, so it’s fuck me now? Really? That’s how you feel?” I ask, cocking my head to the side. This chick has really been feeling herself lately. I understand she is going through an emotional time right now, but I need for her to have several seats.

“You want to come at me with that goody goody two shoes shit. But being nice to muthafuckas is the very reason why my parents are laid stiff in a got damn coffin. So, excuse me if I’m not putting my trust in this fucked up justice system. Sheit, even Hailey Anthony couldn’t get any justice; what the fuck you think they gone do for my parents. We have no evidence. Nothing... so tell me, what am I supposed to do?”

Damn, she shut my simple ass up. I open my mouth but close it right back because I really don’t have any words for her. She’s right. Our justice system is fucked up. Without a formal confession, it’s our word against his, but that still doesn’t excuse her behavior.

“Well,” she says, rolling her neck at me.

“Lose the tude, okay,” I say, cocking my head sideways. She simply rolls her eyes and goes back to playing on her phone. I sigh and sit down beside her on the bed. “I know you want justice for your parents. I get it. I want it too, but you playing with fire. I can’t lose you too,” I say, attempting to hold back my tears. She sighs and wraps her arm around me.

“I ain’t going nowhere chick,” she says, placing her head on top of mine. “This shit gets hard sometimes Sabrina.”

“I know Savannah. I lost a parent too. Not the same way you did,” I quickly say when she pulls away from me. “I miss them too. But the best revenge you can have right now is living your life to the fullest. Don’t let him break you.”

“He can’t get away with it.”

“And he won’t,” I assure her, placing my hand on top of hers.

She looks at me sideways. I can see the uncertainty in her eyes. I can’t even front; I have my own doubts, but I can’t let her go out here and get herself killed. She’s mad right now and I don’t want her to get caught up in some scandalous bullshit. As I look at her, I want to tell her about my suspicions about Roxie killing Gabby but I can’t bring myself to do it. What good will it do? She ain’t trying to fuck with Roxie like that anymore anyway. Besides, Savannah said that’s being handled too.
